Firefox and Her Campus Media Partner to Raise Awareness for Online Privacy and User Choice

Firefox is partnering with Her Campus Media to reach Chicago college campuses to highlight how the platform prioritizes privacy without compromising browsing speeds and experience. 

CHICAGO, IL — DECEMBER 9, 2024 — Her Campus Media, the #1 Gen Z media and marketing ecosystem, has partnered with Firefox, the privacy-focused web browser used by millions of people daily, to amplify awareness around internet privacy on college campuses across Chicago. The collaboration is part of Firefox’s bold campaign, “Nothing Personal, Just Browsing,” which challenges the data-tracking practices of Big Tech. Over the past 20 years, Firefox has been recognized as the independent browser that offers users a safer, more privacy-forward way to browse the internet. This campaign emphasizes privacy and empowers college students to reclaim control over their online experiences. 

As part of the partnership, Her Campus Media mobilized 11 “FoxForce” Ambassadors at six prominent Chicago-based universities to share the platform and its privacy capabilities with their classmates. The ambassadors created custom social media content and distributed branded swag during key moments to boost brand awareness. To further engage the Chicago Gen Z audience, HCM extended the campaign with geo-targeted paid social ads throughout October.

The collaboration demonstrated that data safety deeply resonates with Gen Z, reflected in outstanding engagement rates across ambassador content. The average engagement rate for the campaign ambassador content was 4.46%, which surpasses HCM’s ambassador campaign benchmarks. On-campus ambassador activities included distributing branded merch and further amplified awareness of Firefox’s Nothing Personal campaign messaging. Notably, 82% of the participating influencers expressed they were likely to adopt Firefox as their primary browser post-campaign, solidifying the brand's position as a leader in digital privacy.
